15:00 Art Exhibition: "The Value of Friction"
The exhibition explores friction as a necessity for growth and transformation. It invites reflection on how friction can restore what is lost and how we can create a world where authenticity and value are not subjected to capitalist and patriarchal structures.
Friction has been polished out of our lives over the years through design, making life more beautiful, easier, and less friction-filled. But do we benefit most when our lives are easy, simple, and beautifully polished, or do we need friction?
Is it friction that drives our progress, lifts our gaze to a diverse world, and acts as a catalyst for our ability to perceive real beauty in our world? The artist confronts their own encounters with friction in life and works with topics such as femininity in a capitalist system, the beauty of imperfection, and how sustainability can lay the foundation for creativity and storytelling.
15:30 - 17:30 - Workshop: Hedestrik
Hedestrik uses wool that would otherwise go unused as a byproduct from Danish sheep farmers. By using local wool, they focus on solutions to the textile industry's role in the climate crisis, using local and natural fibers and supporting farms that work in harmony with animals and nature.
They choose local wool, dogma, and freestyle knitting as a response to the commercial yarn and knitting world.
The participants will be taught "dogme knitting," a technique that involves knitting with raw wool. It's a simple and entirely natural process, where participants go from having a raw material to a finished product.
During the workshop, it will be possible to knit wrist warmers or a shepherd's vest, depending on the participants' preferences. Participants should preferably know how to cast on stitches and knit garter stitch.
In addition to teaching the dogme knitting technique, we will talk about the heath landscape, sheep, and other beautiful things you can make with raw wool. Participants should bring their own knitting needles in sizes 3-8.
16:00 Performance: Trajectories of Desire
Frida Billeskov Olesen and Þórunn Guðmundsdóttir are performing artists working at the intersection of dance and choreography. "Trajectories of Desire" is a performance based on Frida's BA research project at DDSKS, "AsIPracticeAMidline."
17:00 Talk about Mental Health and Handicrafts
Join an inspiring talk with Katrine Ravndal, creator of the Instagram profile and brand over.skyerne, and Rasmus Valentino Mandal Larsen, creator of the Instagram channel "Mandestrik."
Hear about Katrine's personal journey on how she managed stress, quit her job as COO, and found peace through sewing and painting. Katrine will share her story of finding balance in life and creating handmade clothes and jewelry from recycled materials. Be inspired by her passion for sustainability and creativity.
Rasmus has been knitting for several years, but it really took off when he had a depression a few years ago. For Rasmus, knitting and creativity provide access to his sensitive sides. With the great interest in Rasmus' creative posts on Instagram, knitting is also opening up a business opportunity for him. There has been great interest in having Rasmus attend events and lectures where he can tell his story and how he has used knitting to work on his mental well-being. Rasmus hopes to make a living from knitting, as he wants to knit all the time.
17:45-18:30 Zine workshop
Zines (short for magazines) are small self-published books that can contain anything you want. The phenomenon originates from the punk movement, where small magazines were made with bands, political messages, and art.
In this workshop, we will reflect on the thoughts that arose during the talks with Mandestrik and over.skyerne, and we will discuss what visions we could have for a mentally sustainable fashion culture: what stands in the way of our well-being and how could it look different?
Then we will cut, paste, draw, and write. Our thoughts will become pages in a zine that can be printed after the workshop, making it available to festival participants and spreading throughout the fashion week.
Participants in the workshop will, of course, receive a free zine.
18:00 - 19:00 - Gittemary on Zero Waste and Consumer Behavior
Gittemary Johansen is a speaker, trash nerd, and author of the books "Sustainable Badass" and "Sustainable Gourmet."
With the zero waste mentality as a starting point, she works on consumer patterns and how we can change our habits. It's not just about steel straws and tote bags – but how we can redefine our values as consumers so that the green transition doesn't feel like a duty but a step towards a better life.
19:00 She can’t afford mascara
The artist She can’t afford mascara presents a musical live performance.
Light-house death vibrations from the grave soil in Lahore, Pakistan. Mascara always delivers drama to the disco, pioneering deathwave and piercing EBM music will adorn the speakers with rhythms of dance torture. And the air will be choked with a field of patchouli flowers.
19:00 - 20:00 - Deconstructed Catwalk
In the deconstructed catwalk, the rules are set aside for a while. The clothes tell a story, woven into the models' personalities, and the alternative aspect of Alternative Fashion Week is given free rein. Elements from the theater world are incorporated, and the audience is invited to wander through a whimsical universe. All the clothing is produced sustainably. The deconstructed catwalk takes place in the Black Box inside Kulturhuset Indre By.
